Guideline Child Support

Child Support Attorney for cities of Orange, Irvine, Costa Mesa, & Anaheim

How is Child Support Calculated?

Child Support is determined by guidelines set by California law.  Child support guidelines are based on each parent’s monthly income and the amount of time the child spends with each parent. In calculating guideline child support in each case, the court uses a computer program called Dissomaster (R).

Using the dissomaster program, a Family Law Judge will set the amount of a child support order. However, in order to determine the numbers to be entered into the dissomaster program, the court must asses each parent’s income. The court will consider a parent’s income from all sources. The income can be in the form of money, property, or services and can include:

-Wages from a job

-Tips

-Commissions

-Bonuses

-Self-employment earnings

-Unemployment benefits

-Disability and workers’ compensation

-Dividends

-Rental income

-Social Security or pensions

-Any payments or credits due or becoming due, regardless of the source, including lottery and prize winnings.

The attorneys at Wilkinson & Finkbeiner have access to the same dissomaster program that the court uses in determining child support. The attorneys frequently use such program and can assist you in getting the best results in regards to an award of child support.
